
Zamalek Fine Players And Staff Following Defeat Against USM Alger
Zamalek board led by Mortada Mansour revealed heavy fines imposed on the club’s technical staff and players after USM Alger loss in the CAF Champions League group stage.
The White Knights suffered a 2-0 defeat against USM Alger in the fourth round of the Champions League on Thursday. The Cairo-based club is now third with five points while USM Alger are on top of the group with seven points.
Club’s chairman, Mortada Mansour, decided to impose a hefty 100,000 EGP ($5,512.56) fine on all Zamalek players after the defeat. Tarek Hamed was specifically fined 200,000 ($11,025.11) EGP as he received two yellow cards and was sent off in the second half.
As for the technical staff, Mansour announced that one month of salary will be deducted from the whole staff including head coach Augusto Inacio.
The Cairo giants will next travel to Zimbabwe to face CAPS United in a crucial match before hosting Ahli Tripoli in their final group stage match in July.
