Young Warriors camp in false start
THE Young Warriors camp got off to a false start yesterday after ZIFA failed to secure a training venue for the players who spent the day at Daisy Lodge.
They have a date against Cameroon in Sunday’s 2017 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match at the National Sports Stadium.
All the players called by the technical team reported for duty yesterday after they travelled by night on Monday to join camp.
But yesterday Young Warriors coach Jairosi Tapera was not a happy man.
Zimbabwe face tougher opposition in the West Africans.
“ZIFA are yet to secure a training venue for the team and they are just sitting at Daisy Lodge. We are waiting for ZIFA to sort things out.
“The training programme and the players are there and we are looking at training twice a day.
“Things are bad and it is not good at all but we have to deal with it. We cannot continue to cry over spilt milk and we have to make do with what is there,” said Tapera.
ZIFA spokesperson Xolisani Gwesela said they had some logistical challenges yesterday afternoon but all was set for the team’s training sessions today at Gateway High School.
