Week 16 PSL Games...Predictions With Mugove Chigada
THE second half of the Castle Lager Premiership resumes on Saturday.
Every team now know exactly what to expect but the difference could be new players signed during the transfer window while for some clubs it will be about the new coaches.
Bulawayo City v FC Platinum (Barbourfields)
Bulawayo City have proved a hard nut to crack against the best teams and this is one such match they can rise to the occasion.
The log leaders FC Platinum on the other hand have shown real zeal to open up a big game in a year Norman Mapeza has recorded his best start ever to a season. Their biggest weakness this season however has been inability to score a lot of goals.
Prediction: Chances are high this will be a draw match while FC Platinum have an outside chance of winning.
How Mine v Border Strikers (Luveve)
After struggling for consistency in the first half of the season in what has turned out to be Kaindu’s worst start since he arrived in Zimbabwe in 2012, How Mine could just hit top gear after acquiring five youngsters and former Ajax Cape Town star Milton Ncube.
However they have in the first half, found the going tough playing against minnows and Border Strikers are one of those.
Prediction: As things stand How Mine are better positioned to collect three points from this one.
ZPC Kariba v Dynamos (Nyamhunga)
The home team ZPC Kariba has been experiencing a difficult time while Dynamos has a seven match unbeaten run in the league – five wins and two draws.
The arrival of new signings, Denver Mukamba and Simba Gorogodyo has given Coach Lloyd Mutasa more options.
However with veteran coach Sunday Chidzambwa putting emphasis on not conceding goals, just like the goalless draw in the reverse fixture, there may not be many goals in this one.
Prediction: Chances are high this will be a draw while DeMbare have an outside chance of winning the game.
Mutare City v Chapungu (Sakubva)
Mutare City have shown a lot of resilience in the past weeks with the coach Taku Shariwa declaring that they will be finishing among the top eight.
With the arrival of players like Agrippa Murimba from Harare City, who was on target in the last game, former DeMbare and Whawha defender Vimbai Madamombe and former CAPS goalkeeper Victor Twaliki, Mutare City go in as favourites.
Chapungu have in the past posted some positive results and are likely to give Gusha Bhora a difficult game.
Prediction: Mutare City are in a better chance to win the game.
Chicken Inn v Harare City (Luveve)
Chicken Inn are yet to find their feet in the Premiership since they lost their coach Joey Antipas. They are taking long to adjust to the demands of new coach Rahman Gumbo.
In the past matches, the champions have not lived up to expectations and the potential they possess in the team.
Harare City have also been blowing hot and cold in the past games under coach Moses Chunga.
The reverse fixture between the two teams was a game of two halves, with Harare City showing they get better as the game progress.
Prediction: Chicken Inn have a better chance of winning the game if they score an early goal while Harare will win if they contain the home side early in the game.
Hwange v Tsholotsho (Colliery)
It could prove difficult for Tsholotsho to win more matches after they lost their captain William Stima to FC Platinum and Simba Gorogodyo to Dynamos.
Hwange always perform better in the second half of the season as they try to rise from the bottom.
Prediction: Hwange will win the game.
Triangle v Ngezi Platinum (Gibbo)
Ngezi may have won 3-1 in the reverse fixture but this is one game they will need to fight hard to get back-to-back wins. Triangle coach David Mandigora has already indicated that it is a difficult match but they are fighting for a result.
Prediction: A draw is highly likely while Triangle have an outside chance of winning the game.
CAPS United v Highlanders (National Sports Stadium)
Games between CAPS United and Highlanders are always filled with drama, just like the reverse fixture when CAPS United ended with just ten man after Leonard Tsipa saw red.
CAPS United have not made it a secret that they are seeking revenge at their favourite hunting ground, National Sports Stadium. Although Highlanders have been getting favourable results in the first half of the season, this is one match that could prove difficult for them away from their fortress Barbourfields.
Prediction: CAPS will win and there is an outside chance Bosso can get a point if they defend as a team and not rely more on their goalkeeper.
