We Need To Move On Without Kangwa: Akbay

Highlanders coach Erol Akbay says his team should learn to play without star players after the team lacked firepower upfront in their defeat against Caps United on Sunday.

Bosso has failed to find the target in 3 matches as they lacked precision in front of goal which Akbay attributes to the absence of key players who include leading marksman Bruce Kangwa who moved to Tanzania to join Azam FC and young Prince Dube who failed a late fitness test just before the CAPS United match. The striking partners have scored 11 goals between them with Kangwa getting on the score sheet seven times while Dube has four goals to his credit.

“We need to move on because we need to find the formula to win without Kangwa and the other star players who would not be in,” said Akbay.

“We have to work on the players that we have so that we get the desired results. We need to start scoring because we haven’t been scoring of late. We have to rectify that in our next match because in our last match we created few chances and we could also not utilize them.”

CAPS exerted revenge beating Highlanders 1-0 after losing the reverse fixture by an identical score line. Tafadzwa Rusike made the difference with a stellar show, orchestrating almost all Caps United attacks, providing the assist and getting his side a penalty which was wasted by Devon Chafa.
