
We Have Quality To Do Well: Mahachi
Warriors midfielder Kuda Mahachi believes with quality players Zimbabwe possess, has the potential to go far at the upcoming Africa Nations Cup in Gabon.
Zimbabwe’s preparations had a slight dent as the players went on strike over allowances and appearance fees for AFCON 2017.
The Warriors snubbed a send off dinner that had been organized by the ministry of Sport and recreation as they insisted that their demands be met before leaving for Gabon.
Acting President Emmerson Mnangagwa was a guest for the ceremony which was attended by other high profile dignitaries.
Mahachi though, acknowledging the challenges they face as a team, says that with the quality players Zimbabwe possess they have the potential to spring a few surprises heading into their first AFCON finals for a decade.
"We’ve got good players from Europe and South Africa and the best players even from local [Zimbabwe's Premier Soccer League], so I think we've got a good squad," said 23-year-old.
"We have been playing together since the beginning of the campaign so we understand each other and we know our strengths and weaknesses. I feel we've got a good combination on our side."
Zimbabwe are in group B which includes top countries on the continent Algeria, Tunisia and Senegal. They will begin their campaign against Algeria on Sunday in Franceville.
