We Can Write Our Own Fairytale Story: Ndiraya

Buoyant Ngezi Platinum coach Tonderayi Ndiraya has thrown his side into the title race after an amazing run since he took the reins at the club. Ngezi has been on a roll since Ndiraya took over during the first half of the season lifting them from the relegation to be within a touching distance of log leaders FC Platinum.

Ngezi Platinum are now sixth on the log with 26 points from 18 games and with 36 points still to play for, a fete which made Ndiraya to believe that his side can emulate English premiership side Leicester City and win the league as rank outsiders.

“We can be the Leicester City of Zimbabwe. The possibility for us to win the league is there. I know that it’s not an easy road but we need to believe.

“Each and every team priority is to win the log. There is no coach who does not want to win the league. I know that teams like Dynamos can rise and claim the championship but we are part of the race,” said Ndiraya.

Ndiraya was given the rope to beef up the squad when the mid-season transfer window opened in July and he added Walter Mukanga, Kelvin Bulaji, Chriss Mverechena and Partson Jaure to his squad. Ndiraya also rejuvenated the careers of players who were struggling before his arrival by boosting their confidence.

“A number of my players were deemed useless the likes of James (Ngulube), Liberty (Chakoroma), James (Marufu) Edgar (Tapera) and Washington (Pakamisa).

“We worked very hard and made the players to believe. My target was to save the team from relegation but suddenly we are in the race,’ said Ndiraya.

The former Dynamos gaffer joined Ngezi Platinum at a time when the team was hovering just above the relegation zone after only managing two wins, five defeats and four draws in nine games. But with Ndiraya incharge the Mhondoro based side has been consistently good with five wins and three draws.

What remains to be seen is...Can Ngezi Platinum write their own fairytale story in the Castle lager PSL and become the local version of Leicester City?
