Warriors Up Two Places

Zimbabwe's senior men's football team the Warriors have jumped up two places in the latest Fifa rankings released by the world football’s governing body on Thursday.

Despite a quite July for most national teams, with the warriors not participating in any matches at all, Calisto Pasuwa’s men climb two spots to 110th, and 33rd in Africa.

The world’s top 20 remained unchanged, after the significant changes that arose last month from the various continental, with Argentina leading the charge over Belgium, Colombia and Germany, with Chile rounding off the top five, followed by Euro 2016 winners Portugal.

Just two international matches, both friendlies, have been played since the July Ranking, meaning that the changes that have taken place are generally minor.

The world’s biggest climbers was Korea DPR, who moved up 18 places to 99th spot, while Cuba dropped 30 places to 151st.

In Africa, Algeria remain top, while Ghana leapfrogged Ivory Coast into second place, with Senegal and Egypt fourth and fifth respectively.

The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on 15 September 2016.
