Warriors Tumble


Zimbabwe Warriors must beat Liberia next week to improve their rankings as the country has dropped five places in the latest world by governing body FIFA on Thursday.

The Warriors are now ranked 115th, lower than Mozambique, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau.

Zimbabwe are 32nd on the continent, ranked lower than lowly Swaziland who failed to qualify for the 2017 AFCON finals held in Gabon in February.

Zimbabwe play Liberia in a 2019 AFCON qualifier at the National Sports on June 11.

Neighbours South Africa also dropped one place to 65th in the world after being overtaken by Haiti, while remaining 12th in the African confederation.

Brazil top the world rankings ahead of Argentina and Germany.

In Africa, Egypt top the rankings followed by Senegal, Cameroon, Nigeria and Congo DR.

World Top 10: Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Chile, Colombia, France, Belgium, Portugal, Switzerland, Spain.

Africa Top 10: Egypt (20), Senegal (27), Cameroon (32), Nigeria (38), Congo DR (39), Tunisia (41), Burkina Faso (41), Cote d'Ivoire (47), Ghana (49), Algeria (53).
