Warriors Skipper Relaxed Ahead Of Afcon Draw
WARRIORS captain Willard Katsande is relaxed ahead of tonight’s 2017 African Cup of Nations draw in Libreville, Gabon.
The Warriors, due to make their third appearance at Africa’s premier football tourney, are in pot 4 and are sure to draw three continental heavyweights.
The Kaizer Chiefs midfield enforcer however told SportsZone from his Johannesburg base that he and his men are not quacking in their boots at the likely prospects of drawing continental giants.
“I am obviously anticipating a good draw for us,” said Katsande.
“But whatever comes out we will embrace it and prepare accordingly.
“What I can tell you though is we can’t wait to mark our return to Afcon and hopefully make every Zimbabwean happy,” he said.
The Kallisto Pasuwa coached side are in pot four together with Togo, Uganda and Guinea Bissau.
The top seeded teams are hosts Gabon whose star man is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Borussia Dortmund, champions Cote d’Ivoire, four-time winners Ghana and North African giants Algeria who boast of the attacking potency of Leicester City’s attacking duo of English PFA Player of the year Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani.
From Pot 2 either former champions Tunisia, Mali, Burkina Faso or DR Congo will be in the Warriors group while Cameroon, Senegal, Morocco and Egypt are in Pot 3.
