Violence Mars Ngezi Platinum Win

The blockbuster encounter between title-chasing Ngezi Platinum Stars and Dynamos ended up being a bad advertisement for local football as hooliganism highlighted this match that the hosts won 2-0.

Fans from both teams had running battles on the terraces in the second half leading to a lengthy stoppage with Dynamos fans invading the pitch.

The ugly scenes were sparked by an earlier incident when a ball boy threw the ball into the Dynamos net. Immediately after that incident, Qadar Amin curled in the opener in the 53rd minute before Xolisani Moyo doubled the lead with a firm header two minutes later. The goal was a bitter pill to swallow for the Dynamos fans as they started pelting their opponents with missiles. This degenerated into running battles on the terraces before spilling onto the field of play.

The setting was scripted for a sad ending as tensions were high from the start with both coaches Tonderayi Ndiraya and Lloyd Mutasa clashing on the touchline. Gift Muzadzi and Zondai Nyaungwa were to clash a few minutes later as tempers flared with Walter Mukanga and Gift Saunyama also getting yellow cards for rough play.

Dynamos who dropped to the third position after this match had early momentum with Quality Kangadzi and Christian Epoupa getting close but failed to direct their efforts on target. Ngezi later regrouped with Moyo, Walter Mukanga and Tichaona Mabvura seizing control of the midfield.

Madamburo are now on top with a superior goal difference to fellow platinum miners FC Platinum.
