Pfumbidzai, one of the pillars on which coach Lloyd Chitembwe has built United’s success is battling a knee injury he sustained when the Green Machine dismissed Lesotho’s Lioli in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
Chitembwe on Wednesday told a news conference that his left back was still limping making him a doubtful starter for Sunday’s match.
Although the said limp has since disappeared, Pfumbidzai failed to join his teammates for training this morning and had to watch from the sidelines.
Makepekepe are however, not giving up on him with Team Manager Shakespeare Chinogwenya telling SportsZone the team’s medical staff was working hard to get him fit.
“I can’t rule him out as yet,” said Chinogwenya.
“Fine he is not training but he is working with the medical staff who should then give a report to the Coach,” said Chinogwenya.
Chitembwe yesterday said there is a possibility Pfumbidzai might not make it.
“I am not hundred percent sure but chances are he might not participate on Sunday but for the rest of the guys we are very happy,” Chitembwe said.
