Thiller At The Colliery...As Bosso Bounce back
Hwange and Triangle played out to an eight goal thriller at the Colliery as Highlanders ended a six match winless streak with a 2-0 win over How Mine.
Hwange and Triangle produced arguably the most entertaining match so far this season with fans captivated for the entire match.
Fans were ejected from their seats as early as the third minute when Marvelous Mukumba converted from the penalty spot to give Triangle an early lead but veteran striker Gilbert Zulu replied in emphatic fashion scoring two quick goals as Chipangano took control of the match.
Defender Obert Moyo scored the third eight minutes from halftime before Gift Mbweti scored a second half brace to top the Castle lager PSL scoring charts with eight goals.
Meson Nelson and Lameck Nhamo scored in quick succession as Triangle levelled matters with seventeen minutes to fulltime.
With Triangle threatening to cause an upset, Hwange were given a lifeline when Donald Dzvinyai brought down Mbweti inside the box.
Mbweti took the responsibility and beat Tapiwa Chilenga in goal for Triangle. The striker rounded up the scoring two minutes into optional time with a well taken goal.
At Barbourfields, Highlanders bounced back from a six match barren spell to end How Mine’s mini resurgence. The script was identical to the reverse fixture in which Highlanders won 2-0 with How Mine ending the match with a man short.
Kudzai Chideu who was send off in the last encounter was the villain again as he brought down Allen Gahadzikwa inside the box to give a penalty to Bosso and Eric Mudzingwa converted the spot kick in the 33rd minute.
Gahadzikwa who had a good outing could have doubled the lead just before half time but his header went over the bar. However the midfielder who joined Bosso during mid season transfer window came right in injury time of the first half with a low diving header past Donovan.
Rahman Kutsanira’s cross was headed back into play by Tendai Ngulube and an alert Gahadzikwa pounced with a header. How Mine played the last twenty seven minutes of the match a man down after Timothy January was given a second yellow card for remonstrating against referee. Highlanders also had Amini Soma Phiri sent to the terraces by the referee.
Elsewhere, the much anticipated clash between Tonderai Ndiraya’s Ngezi Platinum and former team Dynamos failed to live up to its billing as the match ended in a goalless draw with few chances on offer.
Ngezi Platinum featured a host of former Dynamos players, prominent among them Partson Jaure and Walter Mukanga.
But the day belonged to speedy stringer James Nguluve who hit the cross bar towards the end of the first half, after having come closer with an individual effort in the early stages.
The results see Dembare’s title chances fading as they remain 11 points behind log leaders FC Platinum with just nine games to go.
