Tatenda Mukuruva Rested
DYNAMOS first choice goalkeeper Tatenda Mukuruva will be rested for this Sunday’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against Hwange at Rufaro.
Mukuruva skipped the team’s Wednesday training session with a small knee niggle which he has since recovered from but coach Lloyd Mutasa has since decided to give the Warriors number 1 extended leave.
He was missing at Thursday morning’s training session.
“Tatenda (Mukuruva) will not play this weekend,” said team manager Richard Chihoro.
“We have excused him from this weekend’s match so that he can rest and recover well as he has played a lot of football both with the club and the national team.
“We however have no reason to worry because there is Ashely (Reyners) and Tonderai (Mateyaunga) who can do the job equally well,” said Chihoro.
Despite them having a forgettable season, Mukuruva – for all the flak he has gotten – has had a good season keeping 13 clean sheets in the 22 league matches he has played.
Defenders Obey Mwerahari and Godknows Murwira have also been consistent for DeMbare but their efforts have come to naught.
Fourth placed DeMbare are effectively out of the title race with 38 points, a massive 13 points behind log leaders FC Platinum.
They are now poised to finish the season empty handed for the second year running after being booted out of the country’s premier knockout football tourney – Chibuku Super Cup.
