Tatenda Mkuruva Dropped, George Chigova Overlooked
Tatenda Mkuruva is no longer the country’s best keeper according to national team coach Norman Mapeza while inform Polokwane City’s George Chigova has not done enough to earn a Warriors call up.
Both Mkuruva and Chigova were not part of the Warriors squad announced by team manager Wellington Mupandare Thursday morning.
Zimbabwe will play Liberia in a 2019 Afcon qualifier in Harare on June 11.
Mkuruva was Kallisto Pasuwa’s first choice at the Afcon finals last January but the gifted goalie hasn’t seen action since his move to Cape Town City of South Africa.
There was also a surprise return for Ovidy Karuru who is now at Amazulu of South Africa.
