Tanzania Tempt Akbay

EROL Akbay’s future with Highlanders hangs in limbo following ‘irresistible’ offers from Tanzania and South Africa’s top flight clubs.

Highlanders finished the season on position three behind CAPS United and FC Platinum.

Akbay, whose contract expires in December 2017, was rumored to be contemplating joining a Tanzanian and ABSA Premiership team

Akbay’s manager Denford Mutashu said the Dutchman iscommitted to see his contract out next year but there were offers from other countries.

“We will respect the contract and he will be with the club. We have since assured the club bosses that he will be retuning for another stick.

“We have agreed that he honours his contract. I would like to reiterate that Highlanders is a well-respected club not in Zimbabwe but in the African region. Their decision to give Erol a chance should never be taken for granted.

"It has become a home away from home. The fans and the hardworking executive, the esteemed player and the Boss family should be applauded for the good season despite failing to win the championship,” Mutashu said.

On foreign offers, Mutashu added, “However, it mustn’t come as a surprise the fact that we have received inquiries from Tanzania and South African’s top flight teams. Their offers are irresistible. A club from Liberia has been inquiry about his services and they are willing to buy him out of his contract. Anything can happen but Bosso will be our priority before considering any of the offers”
