On the back of their CAF Champions League triumph things just keep getting better for the group of Mamelodi Sundowns players who brought glory to the club at the Borg El Arab Stadium on Sunday night.

After the victory Masandawana's president Patrice Motsepe pledged the entire R20.9 million prize money to the players who had lifted the trophy.

“All of the $1.5 million [R20.9m] – it’s all theirs. They must now sit down and start thinking about how they are going to divide that money amongst themselves‚” Motsepe said.

Motsepe, mining magnate who purchased Sundowns in 2003, did not make the gesture without also issuing some sage words to the players regarding their windfall.

“I just said to them: ‘Guys‚ don’t waste the money now. Take some of that money and invest it. It will benefit you when your football days are over,'” he recounted.
