Sundowns Draw In Awkward Match
Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says it was awkward to play their match against Chippa United in two sessions.
Sundowns finished the goalless draw this morning after it was halted in the 42nd minute at Loftus Stadium last night due to a power failure in the area.
Mosimane told SuperSportTV: "Yeah, it was awkward hey, very awkward. It reminds me of when we played Pirates, then come back to play six or seven minutes. Even there we were not on in that game, and we were on in this game. We had opportunities, but very awkward. The game was not 90 minutes, it was slow and needed momentum. In 45 minutes it is easy to defend and be die-hard. Yeah, we tried to score. We will take a point, we are disappointed."
Meanwhile, 'Jingles' was impressed with the performance of late substitute Teko Modise and referee Chris Harrison.
"By the way Teko played very well. The last six or seven minutes, he played two or three balls, I am happy for him, he played very well."
He added: "The ref was good. He conducted the game very well. He's one up and coming. He is calm and cool, he's in control. He's a good referee. We need to promote our own refs."
Downs, who could have gone top of the table with a win, next visit title rivals Cape Town City on Friday.
Mosimane brushed off suggestions his side could exhibit fatigue after their protracted battle with the Chilli Boys.
"We can't complain, we only played 45 minutes. It won't affect Friday, it is like a training match. It doesn't build any fatigue, otherwise we are looking for excuses."
