Sunday Quits, FC Platinum Drop Points
Veteran gaffer Sunday Chidzambwa threw in the towel after his side ZPC Kariba succumbed to a 0-2 home defeat to Ngezi Platinum Stars on Wednesday afternoon.
It was ZPC Kariba’s first defeat at Nyamhunga in 20 league games.
Before this defeat, Harare City - then coached by Moses Chunga – were the last team to beat ZPC Kariba at Nyamhunga on July 13, 2016.
Two first half goals from Clive Augusto and red hot Tichaona Mabvura saw Ngezi Platinum climb into second behind Dynamos with 52 points.
Goal difference separate DeMbare, Ngezi and FC Platinum who drew 0-0 against Yadah FC at Rufaro.
“I have failed my employer and the community,” Chidzambwa told our man in Kariba Dennis Kagonye soon after the match.
“Failing to win something in three years, I have failed.”
Norman Mapeza’s FC Platinum failed to capitalize as they were held to goalless draw by Yadah FC who could have snatched three points had their strikers been more precise.
Pure Platinum Play moved to 52 points, tied with DeMbare and Ngezi but the Zvishavane side has an inferior goal difference.
How Mine overtook ZPC Kariba into fifth following a 2-1 win over Taurai Mangwiro’s poor travelers Triangle.
Triangle are now ninth on the log, a place behind Black Rhinos who picked their first win in 10 games after beating Hwange 2-0 at the Colliery.
Inform striker Lot Chiwunga scored a brace.
Hwange remain third from bottom with 23 points.
Tsholotsho FC notched up their third win of the season with another shock 2-0 win over Bulawayo City at Barbourfields.
They however remain second from bottom with 19 points.
