SPORTS Journalists Association Northern Region (Spoja-N) yesterday met Minister of Sport and Recreation Makhosini Hlongwane to brief him on the newly created body.

Spoja-N is chaired by Ian Zvoma (ZBC), vice-chairperson is Merit Muzwembiri (ZBC), Eddie Chikamhi (The Herald) is treasurer while Henry Mhara (Newsday) is the secretary general.

The four special committee chairpersons are Langton Nyakwenda (The Sunday Mail), Godknows Matarutse (Daily News) Francis Nyamutsamba (ZBC) and Mugove Chigada (H-Metro).

Minister Hlongwane said the creation of the association will be important when they seek to engage sports journalists as a ministry.

“We are very happy you have managed to come up with such an initiative, it allows as the ministry through the SRC, to engage you as an organisation when it comes to developmental issues. You are assured of our support,” he said.
