Southern Region Trio Share Award

Mthabisi Nkomo, Adonis Nyoni and Mlungisi Ncube will share the Nokel Security Zifa Southern Region Division One League top goal scorer accolade for June after they each scored three goals.

Nkomo banged the goals for police side Black Boots, while Nyoni turns out for Talen Vision and Ncube for ZRP Bulawayo.

Zifa Southern Region administrator Augustine Ndlovu said the three players will share the $150 prize money. Nokel Security director Kenneth Mhlophe is set to present Nyoni with his share of the spoils before Talen Vision’s match against Indlovu Iyanyathela at Raylton Saturday.

“Black Boots are inactive and since there is a tie involving three players, the sponsor is going to present the award to Talen Vision’s Nyoni at Raylton. We hope this award will continue to inspire strikers or players to work harder, score more goals and make the league exciting,” said Ndlovu.

Lungile Nyathi of Amagagasi won the April accolade for his three goals in four matches, while the May winners were Nhlanhla Ndlovu (Amagagasi) and Bantu Rovers’ Fortune Nkomazana, who were tied on five goals.

Nhlanhla has since joined Bulawayo giants Highlanders as a direct replacement for Knox Mutizwa, who left for South African Premiership side Bidvest Wits.

All eyes will be on Nyoni Saturday as his side, which roped in national team assistant coach Saul Chaminuka, takes on Indlovu Iyanyathela.

Talen Vision are ninth with 15 points and Indlovu Iyanyathela 13th with 13 points.

After Saturday’s games, the two teams will start their midseason break, with the other clubs only starting at the end of the month.

Sixth-placed ZRP Bulawayo are at home to Makomo and Bulawayo Chiefs, who clobbered  Ntabazinduna 5-0 on Wednesday, entertain Hwange Juniors at White City Stadium.

Chiefs are fourth with 24 points from 11 games and trail log leaders Amagagasi by six points.
