Shingi Kawondera the former Warriors striker is alive and well contrary to reports circulating on social media that he passed on Monday morning.

Alois Bunjira a close associate of Kawondera dismissed the hoax saying it’s sad some people are now abusing the social media to spread such information about somebody's life.

“I was talking to him just two minutes ago. Actually he is going to be the guest of honour at my Under 17 tournament in Honde Valley at the end of this month. It’s very sad when people get reckless to the extent of spreading such false and grave information," said Bunjira.

The story circulating on whatsapp purportedly from a local sports channel insinuated that Kawondera passed on at Parirenyatwa hospital this morning from respiratory problems. 

Kawondera a product of the popular Darryn T system retired from football after being offloaded by Caps United in 2013. He previously played in Poland, Cyprus and South Africa.
