Shabanie Appoint New Coach

Shabanie Mine have appointed Young Warriors coach Mandla “Lulu” Mpofu as their new gaffer with immediate effect.

Mpofu, who also had stints at Chicken Inn and Highlanders replaces Tendai Chikuni who did not renew his contract with the miners and opted for a lucrative contract at Chapungu.

Chikuni guided Shabanie Mine back into the Premier Soccer League.

“We have appointed   Mandla Mpofu as our head coach. He has vast experience of working with community teams after having worked at Highlanders which is another community team,’ said Elias Marufu.

Mpofu beat his closest rival Godfrey Tamirepi to land the job

Tavaka Gumbo, Philani Ncube, Taku Shariwa, Partson Ndabambi, Philemon Mutyakureva and former Shabanie Mine mentor Solomon Kaseke were also vying for the same post.

Luke “Vahombe” Masomere was also heavily linked with a return to Maglas.

“It feels good to be appointed coach of one of the biggest clubs in the country. In terms of support they come after Dynamos, Highlanders and CAPS United

“The fans at Maglas are passionate, they want positive results. I am not under pressure but I promise to work hard and deliver,” said Mpofu

Shabanie Mine are still waiting for official admission to the elite league as PSL is still embroiled in a relegation/promotion saga with the football mother body, Zifa.
