SABLES, the Zimbabwe senior XV’s rugby side, are expected to depart for Namibia on Wednesday for their second Rugby Africa Gold Cup match set for the Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek this Saturday.

This will probably be Zimbabwe biggest hurdle in this competition with the Namibians having dominated the Sables in previous editions.

But Zimbabwe will draw confidence from how they stole a 28-16 victory in Senegal and hope for a good outcome in Namibia.

Sables coach Cyprian ‘Supa’ Mandenge will be looking for a better show especially with the return to national duty of some senior players notably Jacques Leitao and Andrew Rose who missed the Test in Senegal.

Meanwhile, Namibia top the points tables with 10 points having been ruthless in their two matches by outclassing Tunisia 53-7 and Senegal 95-0.

Kenya (eight points), Uganda (six points), Zimbabwe (four points), Senegal (one point) and Tunisia, with no point, make up the rest of the standings.

While, Zimbabwe do battle in Namibia, Uganda host Tunisia in Kampala while Kenya entertain Senegal in Nairobi.

The 2017 Rugby Africa Gold Cup is also acting as a qualifier for the 2019 Rugby World Cup with the team that finishes bottomplaced team getting eliminated from the World Cup qualification.
