Sables Fight Common Enemy

WHILE the senior Sables prepare to take on Namibia in the Rugby Africa Gold Cup, the Old Mutual Zimbabwe Young Sables say beating the Namibians at the Under-18 Craven Week in South Africa next week will be their prime target.

The senior Sables take on Namibia at the Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek on Saturday but with disappointing background of losing to the latter.

The trend is almost the same at Under-18 level as Namibia have had the better of the Old Mutual Zimbabwe squad in previous Craven Week editions.

This year, Old Mutual Zimbabwe Under-18 face Namibia at St. Stithians College in Johannesburg on July 22.

But with a new technical team in place, Old Mutual Zimbabwe Under-18 are looking forward to turn the tables against the Namibians.

“For one looking to the Test match game day three versus Namibia, they always have had the better results over the years but we hope to build into that game with the first two games,” Old Mutual Under-18 team manager, Shaun De Souza, told Sportszone.

The Old Mutual Zimbabwe Under-18 and Old Mutual Academy are expected to leave for South Africa tomorrow.

In their opening Craven Week games, Old Mutual Zimbabwe Under-18 face the Leopards whilst the Old Mutual Academy clash with Golden Lions XV on July 18.
