Rujeko Ready To Defend Title

COPA Coca-Cola U16 boys defending champions Rujeko High say they will do everything to return their title.

The Under 15 schools tournament heads for the national finals this Friday and Saturday at Chipindura High and Herman Germainer in Mashonaland Central.

The 2016 champions are in Group D together with the winner from Midlands (George Chipadza High) and Masvingo (Gutu High).

Rujeko play George Chipadza High in their opening match on Friday.

Team coach Ranga Chatura believes his charges are well prepared ahead of the finals.

“This is a tournament for us to lose, the boys are eager for another taste of glory and their mind is on the trophy.

“The team will start from where we left last year and we are not affected by the changes of the age group to focus on the Under 15.

“We have prepared well by winning most of our matches only losing two to Kundayi High,” he said.

Chatura said he is looking forward to winning their opening fixtures.

“We have to make sure we win all our opening matches against Gutu High and George Chipadza.

“We know they have earned the spot and won’t be push overs, but we have also been waiting for them too, its game on,” he said.

Rujeko were unbeaten at the district competitions, went on to lose 1-0 to Kundayi and also fell to a 2-1 defeat at the provincials earlier this month.

“We are ready for the finals, our coach and the whole school is rallying behind us to return the title, we are in it to win it,” said Kundai Jamu.

The team is expected to go into camp today ahead of the Copa Coca-Cola finals.
