Ronaldo Milestone Seals Real Win

Cristiano Ronaldo took his career tally to 100 UEFA Champions League goals with a hat-trick as Real Madrid defeated 10-man Bayern Munich 4-2 to advance to the semifinals 6-3 on aggregate.

But that does not tell the full story of the tie, with Bayern having plenty of reasons to feel aggrieved with the officiating as not much went their way on the night.

Trailing 2-1 from the away leg, Bayern struck first as Robert Lewandowski netted early in the second half to level the scores on aggregate, but leave the Germans trailing on the away goals rule.

Their woes were compounded when Ronaldo netted with 15 minutes to play, but the tie was all-square as Sergio Ramos put the ball into his own net.

Arturo Vidal was given a harsh second yellow card to leave Bayern down to 10 men as the tie went t extra-time.

Ronaldo put Real back in front, though replays showed he was a yard offside, which proved to be the killer blow for the Bundesliga club.

Chasing the game, they allowed a hat-trick goal for Ronaldo, before youngster Marco Asensio put the cherry on top for the home side.

Meanwhile, Leicester City’s dream of another fairytale run to a trophy were ended by Atletico Madrid as they suffered a narrow 2-1 aggregate defeat.

Trailing 1-0 from the first leg, they fell behind at home to a goal from Saul Niguez, which left the English champions needing to score three times to advance.

In the end they managed just a single goal as Jamie Vardy equalised just past the hour mark, not enough to advance but another strong showing from The Foxes.
