Rhinos Regains Mojo

Black Rhinos responded to their midweek defeat to How Mine with a 1-0 win over Yadah at Morris Depot to keep pace with the leading pack.

Lincoln Saramaya returning from injury struck fifteen minutes from time capitalising on poor defending by Yadah. Goalkeeper Tafadzwa Dube failed to communicate well with his defence allowing Saramaya to ghost from behind and poke home from close range.

The Army side was however far from the fluidity they exhibited in the previous games as they were under siege from Yadah for the better part of the game.

The clergymen started the match on the offensive thriving on wing play with Leroy Murape and Borges Paulo threatening each time they were in possession.

The Angolan Paulo could have scored in the first minute when his rising shot narrowly missed target.

Yadah continued to pile pressure but lacked precision with the last touch.

The tide swung in the home side's favour when Yadah withdrew Mavhunga for Willard Kalongonda and Manuel Meleka for injured Johannes. The substitution took off the sting in the Yadah’s attack allowing Rhinos wing backs who were sitting back to venture forward.

With the tide flowing in their favour Rhinos managed to get the all-important goal in the 75th minute which allowed them to stay within the touching distance of log leaders Ngezi Platinum who beat Bulawayo City 3-2.

Coach Stanford ' Stix Mutizwa was happy to bounce back after the 2-1 defeat to How Mine.

“It’s good that we managed to get a win after a slump in the midweek. It wasn't easy because Yadah pressed us in the first half but we managed to hold on and get a goal which made the difference," said Mutizwa.
