Rhinos Floor Gamecocks
BLACK Rhinos coach Stanford “Stix” Mtizwa lived up to his words at Luveve on Thursday to floor Chicken Inn 1-0.
Going into the game, Stix had admitted that coach Rahman Gumbo was a great both on and off the field but will find it difficult to keep up with changes in the game.
“The terrain has changed,” said Stix.
Cliff Chitsamba goal gave Black Rhinos the win that lifted them to second on the log with nine points, just a point behind log leaders Ngezi Platinum.
Not many had given Rhinos a chance at the beginning of the season. And now they have started well with a game in hand, making them one of the strongest teams so far.
Asked about his experiences with Rahman before the game, Stix said: “I played against him briefly when he was still very young and turning out for Eagles. He was a very prolific striker then before he changed his position later.
“During that time he also made some appearances for the national team. That was before he later became very established at Highlanders and the national team when I had already stopped playing.
“There is no doubt he has always be a football person and that explains why he is such a good coach.”
