PSL Wrap - Chelsea Remain Top

Chelsea held onto top spot, while Liverpool leapfrogged Manchester City into second as the top three all collected wins in Saturday's Premier League action.

 

Burnley 1-2 Man City

Burnley put the title contenders under intense pressure in the opening stages, and deservedly took the leaed when Dean Marney's fired a lovely volley into the bottom corner, with the City defence guilty of ball-watching.

City responded by launching a number of attacks at the Burnley goalframe and were rewarded for their efforts when Sergio Aguero was quickest to pounce on the goalmouth scramble to level the scores.

Aguero completed his brace after a comedic defensive display, which resulted in another goalmouth scramble and saw the Argentine tap into an open net.

 

Liverpool 2-0 Sunderland

It was clear from the onset that Sunderland would be content to leave Anfield with a point as they allowed Liverpool to dominate possession, territory and invited pressure on to themselves throughout the match.

Despite that, the hosts still managed to create numerous opportunities and eventually found the breakthrough through Divock Origi in the 75th minute, before James Milner made it 2-0 from the penalty spot in injury time.

 

Leicester City 2-2 Middlesbrough

The Premier League champions went behind in the 13th minute but were back on level terms when Riyad Mahrez converted from the penalty spot on 34 minutes.

Leicester fell behind once again to Negredo goal in the 72nd minute but were able to salvage a point via Slimani's penalty deep into extra time.

 

Swansea 5-4 Crystal Palace

In a game in which the defending was not the best, Wilfried Zaha opened the scoring in the 19th minute before Gylfi Sigurosson then equalised in the 36th minute from a free kick.

Leroy Fer completed a second half brace to make it 3-1 before James Tomkins then pulled a goal back to make it 3-2 not long after.

An own goal from Jack Cork saw the Eagles draw level with around 10 minutes to go and Christian Benteke then struck as Palace thought they'd won it.

However, Fernando Llorente's injury time brace secured an unbelievable 5-4 victory for the Swans.

 

Hull City 1-1 West Brom

In a scrappy first-half affair, for the footballing purists, Gareth McAuley put the Baggies ahead in the 34th minute.

However, Hull improved in the second-half and deservedly drew level through Micheal Dawson in the 72nd minute.

 

Chelsea 2-1 Tottenham

The Blues came from a goal down to take all three points at Stamford Bridge as they maintained their position atop the log standings.

Christian Erikssen opened the scoring for Spurs in the 11th minute, beating Thibaut Curtois with a stunning effort from outside the box.

However, the hosts responded on the stroke of half-time through Pedro, who curled an effort beyond the reach of Hugo Lloris to put his side back in the game.

Six minutes into the second half, Nigerian winger-turned full-back Victor Moses completed the comeback for Antonio Conte's side, benefitting off a deflected shot aftre being played in by Diego Costa.
