PSL In Catch 22 Situation Over Chapungu/Dynamos Match

THE Premier Soccer League will have to make a compromise decision today if the abandoned match between Chapungu and Dynamos is to resume on Thursday.

PSL ordered that the game which ended on the 56th minute with DeMbare leading 4-0, following the collapse of the goalpost, has to resume at Ascot with both teams fielding the same set of players they fielded when the game was abandoned on June 18.

But there is a catch.

Chapungu have written to the PSL arguing that they do not have the right number of players to field in this game.

Why?

Because they have six players who were part of that game who can’t be fielded on Thursday for various reasons.

Ian Nyoni, Blessing Zabula, Ray Sibanda and Maxwell Mavhuto who were part of the Chapungu line up that day cannot be fielded because they are all injured.

Ngoni Murisa and Nigel Papius who were on the bench have since left the club.

This leaves Chapungu with 12 players of the 18 they had that day including two goalkeepers, meaning they only have infield players.

“We have written to PSL notifying them of our position that we have some players who will not be able to make it in the team who were in the team that day,” Chapungu public relations officer Tawanda Zowa told The Herald.
