* Centre-halves cost £11.6m on average, central midfielders cost £11.22m, and left-backs cost £8.35m.
* Ederson accounted for 45% of the total outlay on goalkeepers. Benjamin Mendy accounted for 62.27% of fees spent on left-backs.
* Premier League clubs spent more on strikers (£333.4m), central midfielders (£269.4m) or centre-halves (£257.2m) than Championship clubs spent in total combined (£195m).
