Payet Wants To Leave West Ham Utd

Slaven Bilic has gone public with West Ham United’s frustration with Dimitri Payet by revealing that the star player does not want to play for the club any more and is pushing for a move this month.

“Let’s get serious. I have a situation with a player. It is Dimitri Payet. He wants to leave,” the West Ham manager confirmed adding that the French international will not train with the club or be in the team for this weekend’s vital Premier League home game against Crystal Palace.

Payet has been unhappy at West Ham since coming back from the Euros in France last summer and had demanded a new contract despite being given an extended, double-your-money deal this time last year.

Despite wanting to leave, however, West Ham have not received any offers for Payet although they are aware of a growing campaign in France for him to return to his former club, Marseille. However West Ham insist that Payet will not be sold during this transfer window.

"We have said we don't want to sell our best players but Payet does not want to play for us," Bilic said. "We are not going to sell him."

Payet joined West Ham for an initial fee of £10.7 million in June 2015 – although that rises to closer to £14 million with add-ons.

Bilic has done his best to protect and encourage the 29-year-old play-maker, who is such a favourite of West Ham fans, and allowed him time out from the team at the start of this season. Payet did not play, for example, in the league match away to Manchester City in August – before an international break – because he said he was not in the right frame of mind.

Given West Ham’s problems this season Payet’s desire to leave is a huge blow. The player asked for another contract and a pay rise last summer after club co-chairman David Gold took to Twitter to say they would not “listen to offers under £50 million” for him.

Talks were held over another new deal but one was not agreed making Payet even more disgruntled. There was talk of super-clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain coming in for him but sources there have confirmed they have not made an inquiry.
