ORAP Zenzele Chevrolet Champions Cup Back
The ORAP Zenzele Chevrolet Champions Cup is back for its third year in Bulawayo, taking place on June 10 and 11 and is being hosted by the Organization of Rural Associations for Progress Zenzele and Autoworld Zimbabwe.
The tournament is a part of the Shooting for Education and Development programme, which aims to empower and inspire young people to view sport as a tool for development and not just for recreation.
Eighteen schools from four provinces will take part and one of the organisers, Brighton Malandule, says the rivalry between Bulawayo schools Gifford and Mzilikazi will be a highlight.
“Gifford has produced some good players that have gone on to play in the premier league. I remember one of the players that one the tournament is playing for Bantu Rovers, Bukhosi Sibanda, he is actually doing well,” said Malandule.
“Mzilikazi has over the years produced legends in the form of players like Peter Ndlovu the late Adam Ndlovu and Benjamin Nkonjera. So, really the rivalry between Gifford and Mzilikazi is great and we looking forward to very interesting football over the weekend”.
Last year the tournament was won by Mzilikazi after edging rivals Gifford 1-0 in the final.
Gifford’s Elton Bushe was named Player-of-the-Tournament and the Most-Outstanding-Player.
