One More Defeat Seals Dembare's Fate
DYNAMOS are a defeat away from being officially out of the race for the 2016 league title following a 2-0 loss to FC Platinum at Mandava on Saturday.
That result took log leaders FC Platinum to 51 points while DeMbare remained stuck on 38 points, 13 points behind.
If Dynamos are defeated in their next match, it means they cannot cover the 13 point gap as there will be only 12 points left at their disposal. The former champions will still be officially out even if they win the next game while FC Platinum win their next match.
It will become the second consecutive year that DeMbare will fail to win the league title since they won it four years in a row since 2011.
A coach that worked under Kalisto Pasuwa, when DeMbare won the title for four consecutive years, Herbert Maruwa, has shared his notes saying there was more important detail that made DeMbare ‘immortal’.
Maruwa, who has a CAF A licence, is now heard coach of Green Mamba in Swaziland.
“Everyone must do his job and pull in one direction. The players must play for the team not individually because at Dynamos you must put the name first then the rest follows.
“I remember when coaching the juniors of Blessing Moyo’s generation, they would tell you any team that is green we beat because we will be thinking it is CAPS United,” said Maruwa.
“They would cry when they were little boys after defeat. Dynamos need players with that spirit as the foundation for success.”
He said during that time there was a good relationship between the coach the players.
DeMbare’s start of the season was characterised by fights between coach Paulo Jorge Silva and players.
And when Mutasa finally took over in week six, they had already lost a lot of ground.
