
Old War-Horses Await Last Battle
Senior Warriors players are looking forward to what couldprobably be their last Afcon dance next year.
For players such as Cuthbert Malajila, Costa Nhamoinesu andskipper Willard Katsande (all 30-year-olds), Sunday’s qualification was morespecial to them.
“I am the oldest player in the team, my chance to play inthe Afcon tournament is now here.
“I am happy as a player. This is my last Afcon if I am notmistaken so if I have to go I would be the happiest, I am making my countryproud,” said Malajila.
Skipper Katsande said playing at the finals will be a dreamending to their careers.
“When we heard thedraw, we spoke about it with other senior players in the team and said that’sour last chance, especially for those of us going into the 30’s. So we need togive it our last push and try to qualify so that when we retire from footballwe will at least have played at the highest level in Africa,” said Katsande.
His team mate Nhamoinesu was ecstatic after helping his teamearn a place at the Gabon finals.
“It is a marvellous feeling, it is fantastic to havequalified after such a long time and it shows that the work we put in havefinally been paid so the feeling is fantastic.
“I feel great actually, I am one of the senior players, thiswas our chance to feature in the AFCON finals and we managed to do that.”
