Old Boys Keep Gold Cup Race Alive

Old Hararians stayed in contention to finish the first half of the league as the team were 76-6 destryers of Mutare Sports Club at Harare Sports Club and they remain one point behind Old Georgians who they face the weekend.

The Old Boys have had their best start in two season as they are unbeaten in their four outings and a win against the Mutare Lions only made life better for the former champions.

“I am happy that at this stage of the season we have not lost a game, we have won all four and we have beaten Sports Club, a side that got the better of us last season but we have not been clinical enough.

“”The game against Mutare was probably one of the better games we have played this season, we had a good playing structure both in attack and in defence, maybe because we were playing against a weaker team,” said Old Hararians player-coach Coasta Dinha.

However, life remains difficult for Police Defenders who are yet to pick a win, worse still pick a point as they are anchoring  at the bottom of the log without even a single bonus point to show for their efforts so far.

Hoping to collect some against Old Johannians over the weekend, Paul Gosho’s side were 19-29 losers to Old Johannians who – through this win – are still in contention for a Gold Cup play-off.
