OG's Battle For A Perfect Season
Old Georgians Sports Club are looking forward to capping a fine season with a Harare Province Rugby League final win over rivals Harare Sports Club on Saturday at Groombridge.
But they will have to try and do so without talented fly-half Lenience Tambwera who suffered a head injury in last Saturday’s 82-3 semi-final bashing of struggling Old Hararians.
Unbeaten so far, Zimbabwe’s representatives in the upcoming South African Gold Cup tournament would want to end the season the same way they have been performing – without a defeat.
Twice they defeated both Harare Sports Club and Old Hararians in the regular season and in the other game the Old Boys were “too afraid” to face the mighty Dragons as they did not turn up for their game at Old Georgians.

No doubt the Dragons – coached by former Cheetahs player Grant Mitchell – have definitely been the best organised, best prepared and fittest squad with a very professional approach in the wy they do business.
They have already won the right to represent Zimbabwe at the Gold Cup – the first time in 17 years that Zimbabwe is taking part in a South African tournament – and wining the league especially at the expense of the Red Lions would be a sweet moment for them.
However, despite having gone down to the Dragons home and away in the regular season, the Red Lions would not want to give it away easily and would not go down without putting a fight.
In fact, going down for the third time to a side that has already given them problems is the last thing on their mind but no doubt Harare Sports Club have a mountain to climb given that they also suffered a loss to Alex Nicholls’ Old Johannians.
