
Nothing To Celebrate For Warriors
THE Warriors will finish 2017 outside the top 100 on the FIFA World rankings for a sixth year due to long spells on the sidelines.
According the latest FIFA rankings, Zimbabwe are ranked 103rd in the world and 25th in Africa.
Zimbabwe’s neighbors and rivals Zambia and South Africa are ranked 15th and 17th on the continent.
The Warriors’ who last played a high profile match in March when they beat Liberia 3-0 in an AFCON qualifier at the National Sports, were not also by the fact that they missed out on the World Cup qualifiers.
Zimbabwe were kicked out of the qualifiers by FIFA after failing to pay the salaries for Brazilian coach Valinhos.
Sadio Mane’s Senegal, Tunisia, Egypt, Congo DR and awakening giant Morocco complete Africa’s top five.
2014 World Cup winners Germany, resurgent Brazil, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal, Argentina and Belgium make up the world’s top five.
Former world champions Spain are sixth while England are 15th on the world rankings.
