Norman Mapeza edges closer as Mukuruva costs DeMbare again

FC Platinum    2
Dynamos        0

Bit by bit, Norman Mapeza is edging  towards the league title and yesterday his boys reacted from the midweek slumber as FC Platinum dispatched former champions Dynamos at Mandava to go four points clear at the top.

First half goals from defender Kelvin Moyo and the marauding Walter Musona, both headers, left FC Platinum in control of the race with five games to go.

Moyo headed home a corner kick by Ian Nekati after only nine minutes and the wing back turned provider once again when his tantalizing delivery was connected by Musona after 43 minutes.

Mapeza revealed during the post match interview that he had read the riot act on his players after the 0-0 draw at Border Strikers last Wednesday.

“We sat down and talked about the need for the boys to fight if they are to achieve anything serious come the end of the season,” said Mapeza.

FC Platinum are now on 51 points, four clear of Caps United who host resurgent How Mine at the National Sports on Sunday afternoon.

Dynamos remained in fourth place with 38 points despite the defeat but coach Lloyd Mutasa was not impressed with Tatenda Mukuruva’s performance.

“You saw how we conceded the two goals, both from crosses. That was a lapse in concentration and we paid dearly,” he said.
