Tsholotsho…1 Ngezi…4

Ngezi Platinum Stars ran riot at Dulivhadzimu stadium yesterday when they walloped whipping boys, Tsholotsho FC 1- 4 in a Castle Lager premier league match played in Beitbridge.

Ngezi went into Thursday’s match sitting on second position with 19 points from six wins, 2 draws and two defeats. On the other hand, Tsholotsho who have been fighting relegation since matchday one are sitting on four points from 10 games.

From outside the 18 yard box in the 25th minute.

Two minutes into the second half, Donald Teguru made it three for the platinum miners from the penalty spot after Tsholotsho’s Godfrey Mukambi handled the ball under pressure.

Tsholotsho pulled one back through Lucky Nyathi in the 57th minute but their joy was shot lived when they were silenced by Terrence Dzvukamanja, who made it four in the 69th minute.

Ngezi coach, Tonderayi Ndiray said; 

“We played according to plan and we are happy with the result and we will continue fighting for a

top four finish.

“It is too early to talk about winning the premiership title since this is a marathon and we have to take each game as it comes”.

Elsewhere, Highlanders were unfortunate to concede a late goal as they succumbed to a 1 nil defeat at the hands of Chicken Inn in a Bulawayo derby at Barbourfields Stadium. Moses Jackson scored the solitary goal to give Chicken Inn the all-important win.

At Nyamhunga stadium ZPC Kariba was held to a goalless draw by ever improving Chapungu FC.

Yadah beat Triangle 3-0 with a Guthrie Zvokinyi own goal and a Leeroy Mavhunga brace.      

At Maglas Stadium, Shabanie recorded a 4-1 win over struggling Bantu Rovers. Wellington Taderera, Tinashe Chigede, Dylan Chivandire and Collin Dhuwa scored for the Chinda boys while Obrey Chirinda pulled one back for Bantu.

In the late game, Dynamos edged struggling Harare City 1-0 with a Christian Epoupa volley in the first half.
