NGEZI Platinum Stars opened a two-point gap at the top over FC Platinum after dismantling Black Rhinos in a six-goal top-of-the-table thriller at Morris Depot on Thursday afternoon.

Ngezi are now on 34 points while Chauya Chipembere remain on 31.

After a goalless first half, Partson Jaure headed Ngezi in front in the 49th minute before Terrence Dzvukamanja made it 2-0 six minutes later.

Former Dynamos linkman Walter Mukanga made it 3-0 with a beautiful goal before Dzvukamanja completed his brace in the 75th minute, heading home from close range after Rhinos keeper Herbert Rusawo had spilt a Ngezi free kick.

Black Rhinos attempted a late dramatic comeback, scoring two goals in the last 10 minutes through Salima Yamikani and Lot Chiwunga but it was too late.

In other matches, Highlanders suffered a morale sapping defeat at the hands of Bulawayo City in a Bulawayo derby played at Barbourfields.

Munyaradzi Mungadze and Ishmael Wadi scored for City while Rahman Kutsanzira pulled one back for Bosso.

At Gibbo, former DeMbare winger Russel Madamombe and the unheralded Ephinos Kamunda were on target for Triangle as Taurai Mangwiro’s men registered a 2-0 victory over Chapungu.
