Ngezi Out Of Africa
NGEZI Platinum are out of the CAF Confederation Cup after a goalless draw against Clube Recreativo Desportivo do Libolo at National Sports Stadium on Saturday.
The Premiership side had lost the reverse fixture of the first round tie 2-1 away.
Tonderai Ndiraya’s charges will have themselves to blame after squandering a number of chances that could have given them a comfortable win.
Ndiraya opted for a more attacking team for this home match, a move which saw both Terrence Dzvukamanja and Donald Teguru starting in the first XI.
Teguru was in devastating form, especially in the second half, but his efforts were not complimented by the Ngezi strike-force as they took turns to miss chances.
Libolo on the other hand used delaying tactics to slow down the game and it somehow worked for them as Ngezi Platinum got frustrated with each passing minute.
Liberty Chakoroma, scorer of the goal in the reverse fixture, though he had got the important goal in the second half but his effort was ruled off-side in what was a close call.
Their knock-out now leave CAPS United as the only Zimbabwean representative in the African competitions.
The champions face TP Mazembe at the same venue on Sunday, needing a goalless draw or win to progress to the knock-out stage of the CAF Champions league.
