Ndoro's Pirates Held By Chigova's Polokwane City
ABSA Premiership top scorer and Zimbabwe international striker Tendai Ndoro provided the assist but was later substituted as Orlando Pirates were held to a 1-1 draw by George Chigova’s Polokwane City at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Ndoro expertly lofted the ball into the box for Dove Wome who fired past Chigova in the 59th minute to level the scores after Polokwane had taken the lead six minutes earlier.
New Pirates coach Kjell Jonevret watched on as Orlando Pirates stretched their winless run to 10 games.
Jonevret recalled top-scorer Ndoro to the starting line-up in the place of Thamsanqa Gabuza, while Mpho Makola also got a recall.
Ndoro was however replaced by Gabuza in the 67th minute.
The first half was a tepid affair with the best chance falling to Makola, who's low shot was expertly saved by George Chigova in the Polokwane goal.
But for the rest it was a half of frustration, with the visitors resorting to shots from long range, which mostly flew well high and wide.
Pirates were at times scrappy in the pass and battled to get behind the Polokwane defence.
