National Football Association of Zimbabwe honours Warriors.
The National Football Association of Zimbabwe (NFAZ) held a dinner on Monday night in Harare to honour the Warriors following their qualification for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Gabon.
The Warriors qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations finals for the third time, after a convincing 3-0 win over Malawi on Sunday. With Swaziland beating Guinea 1-0 in the other game in Group L, Zimbabwe qualified for the 2017 Nations Cup in Gabon with a game to spare.
Speaking at the dinner NFAZ president, Philip Chiyangwa, felt it was important for him to thank the warriors in such a manner.
“This arrangement was just that we won and I felt it was important to say thank you to our guys in such a setting”.
Chiyangwa also offered gratitude to the support rendered by the Minister of Sport and Recreation Hon Makhosini Hlongwane as well as Warriors benefactor Wicknell Chivhayo.
“Our guys have done very well, and without the support of my Minister as well as Wicknell Chivhayo I don’t think that we would have gotten this far. We are gathered here today because we wanted to say thank you to the Warriors”.
Chiyangwa, who has been trying his best to move mountains since his election to Zimbabwe’s top job on December 5 last year, has presided over a purple patch in Zimbabwe football that has seen the Mighty Warriors qualifying for the 2016 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Cameroon and the Warriors qualification for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Gabon.
