Nation Recalls Nightmare

NATION Dube has admitted he feels good to be back in football after a nightmarish experience on the sidelines.

The Hwange coach faced allegations of attempting to fix Warriors games before being cleared by the courts late last year.

Eventually Zifa also lifted the ban imposed on him, paving way for his comeback as coach at the Colliery.

After their 2-1 win over Chapungu last weekend, Hwange turn their attention to Dynamos who they host at the Colliery on Sunday.

“Football is my life and it was very difficult being on the sidelines. Obviously the feeling is great right now that I’m back in football.

“It was not a good experience on the sidelines and now I would wish to concentrate on the present, trying to make sure that Hwange are competitive again,” Nation said.

At the time of the ban, Dube was assistant coach to Kalisto Pasuwa along with Saul Chaminuka in the Warriors set-up.

The result was that Dube missed the better part of last season while also missing out on a maiden appearance at the 2017 AFCON finals in Gabon.

He was replaced by Mkhuphali Masuku in the Warriors set-up.

After the ban was lifted by Zifa, Hwange quickly integrated him back into the system.

“A lot of things have changed and it feels like I have been away for a very long time. But I’m not letting anything distract me or think about the past.

“I have been with the team for a couple of months now and this is a very young team. Most of the players have been taken from Division one and Division two teams around us.

“So there is not much experience on the part of the players. But I believe we are building something great here. Once we get the combinations right, I’m sure we will begin to get more positive results,” said Dube.

Hwange picked up a point in a goalless draw against Tsholotsho on the opening day before going down 0-3 to Ngezi Platinum on Match Day Two.

Last Saturday, Chipangano grabbed their first win against struggling Chapungu at Ascot.
