Nakamba Set For UEFA Champions League Debut
ZIMBABWEAN international central midfielder Marvelous Nakamba, who is the most expensive capture for Belgian giants Club Brugge in this window, is set to make his UEFA Champions League debut on Wednesday night.
Club Brugge, who paid three million Euros for Nakamba in June, host Istanbul FK of Turkey in a 3rd preliminary qualifying round match at the Jan Breydel Stadium at 9PM.
Prior to his move to Belgium from Vitesse, Nakamba had not played Champions League football having only featured in Europa clashes for the Dutch side.
The 23-year-old Nakamba is one of the fastest rising players in Zimbabwe and played a crucial role when the Southern African nation qualified for the 2017 African Cup of Nations finals.
Should he play on Wednesday night, he will join the special class of Norman Mapeza, Bruce Grobelaar and Costa Nhamoinesu – the other few Zimbabweans to have featured in the prestigious UEFA Champions League.
