Mutasa Chides Mukamba, Ndaba

Dynamos coach Lloyd Mutasa has chided his players for choosing to showboat prematurely in the 2-0 win over Mutare City Rovers at Rufaro on Sunday afternoon.

The Glamour Boys went ahead as early as the fourth minute when Roderick Mutuma capitalized on the visitors’ defensive frailties and beat goalkeeper Victor Twaliki.

Second half substitute Dominic Mukandi ensured maximum points in the 74th minute, just about five minutes after he was thrown into the fray.

But DeMbare appeared to live on the edge as Mutare City Rovers kept on pressing for a goal in a game that was lacking in terms of entertainment value.

The Glamour Boys goalkeeper Ashley Rayners was twice forced to produce top drawer saves to thwart Stephen “Dealer” Sibanda and Agrippa Murimba from close range.

Still some Dynamos players, especially Mutuma, Mukandi, Denver Mukamba and Valentine Ndaba, found time and space to showboat, probably to impress the small crowd that had paid its way into the stadium.

Numbers keep dwindling at Dynamos matches because of the disappointing returns this season. Mutasa said it was dangerous play from his charges.

“You don’t go for showboating when you are 1-0 up. If you conceded a goal the other team gets inspired. You go for showboating probably when you are five goals up, when you know you have secured the points but it’s still a learning curve to some of these youngsters.

“We expect the seniors guys to show the youngsters that you can only do showboating probably when you are five goals or so ahead in the closing stages of the game… We tell them to be mature enough and play the way football should be played,” said Mutasa.

Nonetheless, DeMbare bounced back to the top four with the win and are now on 43 points, two better than nearest rivals Chicken Inn.
