Mutare City Shock Bosso…As Dynamos Stutter Again

Mutare City brewed one of the biggest shockers at Barbourfields stadium so far in the 2016 Castle Lager PSL campaign after beating Highlanders 2-1.

Mutare City who are second from bottom went into the match as rank outsiders to win the game but put up a polished act to get one of their most crucial wins of the season.

Kudakwashe Gurure put the Taku Shariwa coached side ahead six minutes into the second half with a fine chip over Ariel Sibanda despite early dominance from Highlanders. Second half substitute Caleb Masocha who came on for Wonder Sithole scored a cushion for the visitors with ten minutes to full time. Masocha received a through ball, shrugged off a challenge from Felix Chindugwe before slotting the ball past Sibanda.

Simon Munawa got a consolation for Bosso with the last kick of the match but it was too late to salvage a point for the Bulawayo giants who recorded their second consecutive defeat after losing to Caps United last Sunday.

The result left Bosso who are gunning for their first title in a decade, rooted third on 31 points six behind leaders FC Platinum. For Mutare City this was their 4th win of the season and saw them move into 14th place on the log table with 15 points.

At Rufaro Stadium Dynamos stuttered again when they were held to a goalless draw by How Mine. Even the presence of new acquisition Jacob Muzokomba in the first eleven could not help matters as the veteran striker failed to provide the cutting edge and was substituted at the beginning of the second half.

Dynamos remain fourth after the draw with 27 points.
