Murape taunts Chunga

DYNAMOS assistant coach Murape Murape says they respect their former mentor Moses Chunga, but has vowed to end Harare City’s revival when the teams clash in a Castle Lager Premiership match at Rufaro this afternoon.

Murape said DeMbare are aware of the Sunshine Boys’ good run since Chunga’s arrival, which has seen the Sunshine City Boys winning their last two games.

“He is more like a brother and we respect him so much for all his achievements in football. He has been in the game for long and many people probably know him as a Dynamos legend,” said Murape.

“Even the positives he has brought to Harare City in the past few weeks are there for all to see.

“They are even on top of us on the log standings but we are not intimidated as Dynamos.

“It promises to be a good game because it comes at a time when Harare City have started winning their games while we also have begun to show positive signs. I think we will have to see who the big boys are.”

The Glamour Boys have reported a clean bill of health, which presents coach Lloyd Mutasa with increased selection options.

“We would want to maintain the winning mentality in our team because what we need at this point is to establish consistency,” said Murape.

“It will be good for us if we can win four or five games in succession because it’s not good to operate in fits and starts.

“We can’t be a team that wins today and tomorrow we lose. It only makes it difficult for us in the race.”

Chunga has a full squad at his disposal with striker Kuda Kumwala being the only worry after he was given some time off during the week because of a stomach problem.

The Sunshine Boys have tremendous depth with the availability of William Manondo, Martin Vengesai, Honey Chimutimunzeve and skipper Francisco Zekumbawira.

Chunga still is spoilt for choice in other departments with the return of Raphael Manuvire, Blessing Moyo and Edwin Madhananga from national team duty.

The Sunshine Boys, who have a host of former Dynamos players in their ranks, sounded upbeat ahead of the clash.

The side’s captain Zekumbawira, who played for DeMbare three seasons ago, said they are ready to floor the Glamour Boys.

“As players, our main focus is on playing the game, our players know what to expect from them and we are prepared.

“It’s always a big game playing Dynamos. Everyone is really psyched up. It’s a game that you don’t really need to be pushed,” said Zekumbawira.

Another match is expected this afternoon when FC Platinum seek to bounce back to the summit with a tricky tie against Triangle at Mandava.

The big match of the weekend will be at Barbourfields when log leaders Highlanders host Sunday Chidzambwa’s ZPC Kariba.
