More Trouble For Mashingaidze

EMBATTLED former ZIFA chief executive officer Jonathan Mashingaidze, who was banned for life on Wednesday, is now being accused of causing Zimbabwe’s ban from the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

It has emerged that Mashingaidze could have abused a bailout package which had been availed to ZIFA to avert a FIFA ban from the 2018 World Cup qualifiers for failing to pay Brazilian coach Valinhos.

He is accused of failing to account for $65 000 meant to pay the ex-Warriors coach Valinhos.

It is alleged that as the ZIFA situation became desperate and the FIFA ban was looming, the Premier Soccer League advanced $67 000 to the association which was drawn from the mother body’s share of levies of top flight matches.

But ZIFA did not settle the Valinhos debt on time and FIFA expelled Zimbabwe from the World Cup qualifiers.

Mashingaidze is also being accused of abusing $54 000 received from Prophet Walter Magaya to help the national Under-20 on their trip to South Africa as not all the money found its way to the team.

On his part the beleaguered Mashingaidze claims that ZIFA owe him $80 000 in outstanding salaries.
